General FAQ

  • Q. How does RingCredible work?

    RingCredible uses Voice over IP (VoIP) technology to make phone calls over your 3G or WiFi internet connection. But unlike similar apps which need the receiver to have a smartphone or computer with the same app installed, we use VoIP to connect your digital signal to a regular phone line. This way you can still call any phone, while getting far cheaper rates than compared to using a regular phone.

  • Q. Can I make emergency calls or paid numbers with RingCredible?

    No. Due to the nature of the VoIP system RingCredible cannot be used for emergency calls and is not a replacement for your telephone in this manner.

  • Q. How do I call someone using RingCredible?

    RingCredible seamlessly integrates with your contact list, so you can simply pick a contact from your list or alternatively use the keypad to manually select a number to dial.

    However, please note that RingCredible does not recognize local phone number notation conventions and expects all numbers to be in the correct international phone number notation. This means a leading +, followed by the country code, followed by the rest of the phone number without spaces or other symbols.

    For example, the American number +1 (800) 275-2273 should be entered as +18002752273.

  • Q. Is it also possible to call with RingCredible without WiFi?

    Yes, this is possible. Please check the contract with your provider to determine if extra costs are charged for using 3G (mobile Internet) abroad.

  • Q. When I call from abroad with RingCredible, do I have to pay roaming costs?

    No. When you call over WiFi, no extra costs are charged. When you call over 3G (mobile Internet), your subscription with your provider will determine whether you pay any extra costs.

  • Q. Where can I get news about RingCredible?

Registration FAQ

  • Q. Why do you need my cell phone number?

    To confirm your RingCredible account we will send an SMS message with a short activation code to the cell phone number you registered. This phone number will also be your login for RingCredible and is shown as your caller ID when you use RingCredible to call someone.

    Please note: All phone numbers, including your own, needs to be in the correct international phone number notation. This means a leading +, followed by the country code, followed by the rest of the phone number without spaces or other symbols.

    For example, the American number +1 (800) 275-2273 should be entered as +18002752273.

  • Q. Why do you need my email address?

    A valid email address is necessary for password recovery, in case you forget your password. We may use this address to contact you with information about RingCredible but will never sell your contact information to third parties.

  • Q. Why do I need an activation code?

    The activation code ensures that you are the real owner of the cell phone number you have registered and prevents others from obtaining your phone number and placing calls with your caller ID.

  • Q. I did not receive the SMS with my activation code! What now?

    If you do not receive the SMS with activation code please check the phone number you entered. It should be in international phone number notation: a leading +, followed by the country code, followed by the rest of the phone number without spaces or other symbols.

    For example, the American number +1 (800) 275-2273 should be entered as: +18002752273

    If your number is correct a technical problem may have occurred while sending your SMS. Please try registering your account again to send a new SMS with your activation code.

    If the problem persists, please send us a message at support@ringcredible.com, including your phone number and the (approximate) time you tried to register, and we will look into it.

  • Q. Where can I recharge my credits?

    In the apps you can use the in-app purchase functions to purchase credit directly. Alternatively, you can login here to recharge your account.

  • Q. When I try to call I get a "Number incorrect" error. What does this mean?

    The number you are dialing is most likely not in international phone number notation. All phone numbers need to be in the correct international phone number notation for RingCredible to reach them. This means a leading +, followed by the country code, followed by the rest of the phone number without spaces or other symbols.

    For example, the American number +1 (800) 275-2273 should be entered as +18002752273.

  • Q. I forgot my password! How can I recover it?

    You can use the password recovery function here to recover your password. Please note that you must have entered a valid and correct email address during account creation to recover your password.

  • Q. Why can't my BlackBerry connect to the RingCredible servers?

    RingCredible does not work over the BlackBerry Internet Service (BIS) or BlackBerry Enterprise Server (BES) plans as these services limit the types of data your phone can transfer. Your BlackBerry need a 3G data plan or an active WiFi connection for RingCredible to work. If you have a 3G data plan or active WiFi connection and RingCredible cannot connect to the servers, please send us a message at support@ringcredible.com, including your phone number, and we will look into it.

  • Q. What do I do when I have 3G on my BlackBerry but it still won't connect?

    When using 3G RingCredible requires working APN settings to connect to the Internet, as a connection via the BlackBerry Enterprise Services (BES) or the BlackBerry Internet Services (BIS) is not allowed. You can get these APN settings from your network provider. Please contact your network provider via the customer service center for your APN settings. Please perform the following steps on your smart phone to configure the APN settings.

    APN Instructions*
    1. Turn on your BlackBerry.
    2. Press the menu key to open the applications list.
    3. Click 'Settings' followed by 'Options'.
    4. Click 'Advanced options' followed by 'TCP'.
    5. Enter the APN settings as provided by your network provider.
    6. Press the menu key and click 'Save'.
    7. Restart your phone to apply these changes.
    8. You should be able to connect to the RingCredible server. The application should show 'Registered' in the top of the screen.
    *The steps might differ to some extent depending on the BlackBerry model that you are using. These instructions apply to the BlackBerry Bold 9900.

  • Q. I have a new phone number. Can I change the number of my RingCredible account?

    Yes, this is possible. Please send us an email from the address you've registered with to support@ringcredible.com with your original phone number and your new phone number.

  • Q. I can't reach anyone in my contact list!

    The numbers in your contact list are most likely not stored in international phone number notation. All phone numbers need to be in the correct international phone number notation for RingCredible to reach them. This means a leading +, followed by the country code, followed by the rest of the phone number without spaces or other symbols.

    For example, the American number +1 (800) 275-2273 should be entered as +18002752273.

  • Q. My app shows the message Unregistered / Not Registered.
    What does this mean?

    This error means that the app currently cannot connect to the RingCredible servers. There are three possibilities.

    • First, please check to see that your username and password are correct.
    • Second, check whether your smartphone has an active Internet connection. Without an Internet connection, the app cannot make contact with the RingCredible servers.
    • Third, it is possible that the WiFi network to which you are connected blocks VoIP services by an internal firewall. Check the settings of your router or contact the administrator of your network.
  • Q. I am connected to WiFi, but I am not able to call.

    It is possible that the WiFi network to which you are connected blocks VoIP services by an internal firewall. Check the settings of your router or contact the administrator of your network. If calling over 3G also does not work, please send us a message at support@ringcredible.com, including your phone number, and we will look into it.

  • Q. When I call, I am disconnected immediately, but the app says it is registered.

    This problem appears when you do not enter the country code when you start dialling or have not entered the country code in front of your phone numbers in your contacts.

  • Q. I am able to call, but I have a bad connection.

    The quality of your call depends on the quality of your Internet connection. With 3G or weak WiFi connections, it is possible that the quality of your call is unstable.

  • Q. Can I cancel my RingCredible account?

    You can cancel your account with us at any time. Please send an email from the address you've registered with to support@ringcredible.com with your phone number and tell us why you would like to cancel. We would like your help to understand how we can improve RingCredible.

  • Q. When I try to call I get a "Connection not possible" error. What does this mean?

    Please contact us at support@ringcredible.com and we will assist you in resolving this error.
